Yaocuautli Aztec danza
CDA is proud to support Yaocuauhtli Danza Cultural, a community based Aztec dance troupe that helps promote and develop positive self-awareness and self-esteem to youth and all whom participate through culturally enriched activities. They have have performed at countless cultural events throughout the United States and Alaska. Yaocuauhtli Danza Cultural focuses their mission practicing their ancient traditions to rediscover their roots and restore a past that has been hidden for more than five hundred years. By knowing their past they understand their present and thereby build a better future for our children and our children's children.
Practice are every Thursdays at 6:30 at El Dorado Park in Salinas.

Caminos del Arte, the East Salinas Arts group which provides free art, music, and dance classes in low income areas of Salinas, also puts on four community Arts Festivals each year. Hear Ruth Hermosillo, Francis Nolder and Nicolasa Alvarez explain how they do it. It's all about unity. That's why they are the Arts Council for Monterey County's 2011 Non Profit Champion of the Arts
